Facilities

  • The home now comprises 31 beds accommodated in private and semi-private fully furnished bedrooms. We understand that when adapting to a new environment residents often like to have familiar items around them and are therefore encouraged to personalise their rooms.

  • The home has four lounge areas, with televisions, video players, stereos and open gas fires.

  • The private sitting room facilitates residents who wish to have private time with visitors. This room is comfortably furnished with recliner chairs.

  • In keeping with patient choice our large dining room can accommodate all residents with views over the Bunowen River and farmland beyond. Residents are welcome to have meals in their room as requested.

  • Bathrooms and toilets are located throughout the building and are fitted with specialist equipment to meet all mobility requirements. Designed on a single level the building is fully wheelchair accessible.

  • A newly constructed enclosed garden is situated at the rear of Nightingale and we hope our residents will enjoy this when the weather permits. We also have an enclosed courtyard area which is particularly pleasant in warm weather.

  • Our nurse call system extends throughout the building allowing for prompt attention to the needs of those in our care.

  • An important part of our policy of care is the provision of recreational and motivational activities. These are provided every afternoon, by our activities co-ordinator, and include Reminiscence therapy, Sonas, craftwork, games, art, gardening, films and music.

  • Our Parish Priest visits weekly to celebrate Mass. Residents are provided with daily and weekly newspapers.

  • Hairdressing, chiropody and physiotherapy services are offered on site.

  • Additional services such as dietetics, speech and language, OT can be arranged as required. Residents can retain the services of their own GP whilst in Nightingale.

Catering:

  • Our full-time cook has extensive knowledge regarding the preferences of all of our residents. She is dedicated to the provision of excellent quality meals. Residents are offered choice at each meal regarding what they would like to eat and where they would like to have their meal (some residents like to eat in their rooms and this wish is respected).

  • Menus are prominently displayed both on tables and on a white board in the dining room.

  • Special dietary requirements are catered for.

  • Snacks and drinks are available throughout the day.
